Nursery Charity Quilt by Comberton Quilters.

Hand made patchwork quilt by Comberton Quilters. (70% of proceeds will be donated to Acorns Children's Hospice Charity)

This is one of a series of nursery quilts from a group project called 'Sew a Row' Everyone in the group started off with a bag of fabric and produced one row on a given theme (houses). Then it passed to someone else who add a different themed row (animals, toys, vehicles, boats, trees and stars). After 7 months we received our original bag back and put the quilt together. The variety in the finished quilts was amazing, with intricate piecing, applique and touches of embroidery. This one has been machine quilted with very individual designs to compliment the features in the quilt. It is filled with 100% polyester wadding and can be gently washed and air dried. The quilt measures 38" by 56" and makes a lovely play quilt or could be displayed as a wall hanging.

I belong to a group called Comberton Quilters who meet monthly to make quilts for charity. We are a friendly bunch with a variety of skills and we love to share our knowledge and pool our skills to produce beautiful quilts. Unusually, we have 7 long arm machines between us! In 2023 we won 1st place in the Group Category at the prestigious Festival of Quilts at the NEC.
We use donated (top quality) fabric and buy more if we need it. We also buy and use quality wadding and threads. 30% of the sale price will go into replenishing our supplies and the remainder will be donated to our chosen charity - Acorn Children's Hospice.
